Speaker:  Bernard "Buzz" Travers, CPA, JD

Bernard “Buzz” Travers, CPA, JD at Aaron Smith, P.C. in East Longmeadow, MA, will present on important tax planning updates for the 2022 filing season.

An attorney and licensed CPA in Massachusetts and Connecticut, Buzz is a tax specialist whose area expertise includes corporate, individual and fiduciary income tax; state and local income and sales and use taxation; federal and state tax audits; mergers and acquisitions; estate and gift taxation; nonprofit taxes; and bankruptcy taxation.

In addition, he has assisted numerous business owners in the sale or purchase of a business and has been a trusted advisor to businesses in the service, real estate, construction, distribution and manufacturing industries.

Buzz  was formerly the firm's managing director but now is primarily responsible for business development. His previous experience includes 15 years as a corporate tax manager, assistant controller, assistant general counsel and assistant secretary for Andersen Group, Inc., a publicly held company in Bloomfield, CT.

Buzz is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Hampden County Bar Association.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Bentley University and his Juris Doctor from Western New England University School of Law. He is the treasurer and a governor for the Longmeadow Country Club, an officer and director of the Sportsmen's National Land Trust, Inc., a past president of the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County, Inc., a past president of The Field Club of Longmeadow, Inc., and a past treasurer of the Longmeadow High School Hockey and Lacrosse Booster Clubs. Buzz and his wife, Lynn, have three grown sons and live in Longmeadow.
